The Carroll County, Maryland chapter of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) generally meets in Westminster on the 3rd Sunday of each month at St. Paul’s UCC (17 Bond Street at the intersection of Bond and Green Streets) at 7:15pm.
Nationally, GLSEN works to ensure safe schools for ALL students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. In Maryland, a unique, multi-tiered structure allows us to streamline and therefore maximize the work of our Chapter throughout the state. The Steering Committee provides general oversight and operational support at the statewide level, while programming committees bring GLSEN’s vision and programs to local communities.
This structure offers many opportunities to assist with GLSEN’s effort to make Maryland schools safe for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students. These range in level of commitment from simple donations and occasional volunteer opportunities to leadership positions at all levels, including the Steering Committee and individual programming committees. As a non-profit, volunteer-driven chapter we welcome ALL contributions, whether of time or money, no matter how big or how small.
